Pleasant, cooler days ahead as temperatures dip slightly in city

Shanghai residents are being urged to dress adequately with night and early morning temperatures in some parts of the city dropping to as much as 16 degrees Celsius yesterday, and are likely to stay like that way for the next few days.

It was cloudy for much of the day yesterday with a high of 25 degrees Celsius, and the weather bureau is predicting another pleasant day today, albeit less humid than earlier this week.

Most districts were cooler in the morning yesterday. Chongming Island recorded 16.6 degrees, while elsewhere it ranged between 18 to 19 degrees.

While the high pressure behind the cold front chased away the rain, some precipitation is predicted tomorrow due to an east-moving rain belt.

From Sunday to the middle of next week, it is forecast to be cloudy, coupled with intermittent drizzles in some areas. The highs in next four days will hover between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, with lows around 20.

Another cold front is expected on Thursday that will trigger another drop in temperatures.

Several cold fronts pushed through the city this month, but none of them lasted long enough, thus delaying the official onset of autumn.
