Poetry recitals to be held aboard Huangpu River ferry
Passengers of the city’s Huangpu River ferry will be able to listen to modern Chinese poets reciting their latest poems beginning today.
The government-backed Bund Art Project renovated one of the ships and renamed it Poem Ferry. Once every month, an upcoming poet will be on board to recite his or her work in an effort to promote modern literature.
Poem Ferry travels between Jinling Road Dock and several stops on the Pudong New Area side of the river. A single trip takes 15 minutes.
Last year, another ferry was renovated under the Bund Art Project. It was quickly nicknamed “Shanghai Duck” by residents as it was made to look like a roast yellow duck, a local specialty.
