Police assistants given 'Brave Deeds' award after stabbing attack
THE three police assistants involved in a stabbing attack yesterday were today given the "Advanced Citizen of Brave Deeds" award, Shanghai Evening Post reported.
Team leader Zhang Aiming, 30, was killed in the attack. Peng Hao had a severe back injury, a doctor told the newspaper. Fu Qiang, 33, was the other wounded police assistant. Both Peng and Fu are in a stable condition.
The alleged attacker, a Jiangsu Province resident surnamed Mo, was apprehended at the scene.
Witness Zhang Songquan told Xinmin.cn that the suspect is less than 1.7 meters tall and in his forties. He was caught with a knife in hand, Zhang added.
Zhang ran to the scene of the attack after hearing a noise. The three police assistants had already been attacked when he arrived.
Police seized rope, a screwdriver, a glasscutter as well as maps of Shanghai and cities in Jiangsu Province from the suspect.
