Police detain drunk driver over cyclist's death
A drunk driver has been detained after he allegedly killed a cyclist in a crash on January 17 in Putuo District, Shanghai police said today.
The motorist, surnamed Wang, fled the scene after the accident, police said.
Police said the cyclist was pronounced dead in hospital.
The suspect was caught on January 28 and his vehicle was seized from a repair shop, police said. Wang told the police he had been drinking alcohol before driving on the night of the accident, according to officers.
The investigation is ongoing.
