Police seize fake bills
SHANGHAI police have seized counterfeited money with a face value of 7.5 million yuan (US$1.1 million) in the past eight months.
Police caught 230 suspects in more than 130 fake money cases, Oriental Morning Post reported today.
In a separate case solved in March this year, police seized fake money with a face value of 490,000 yuan from two suspects who rented a home as a workshop to print the notes. In addition to the two suspects, the landlord was also fined for negligence of supervision, the report said.
Police said most counterfeit money came from other provinces. According to the law, anyone who holds or uses fake money with a face value of more than 4,000 yuan faces criminal proceedings.
