Popular Expo exhibition opens in Shanghai to mark 200-day countdown
"The Path to World Expo" - illustrating the history and marvels of the world's fair - opens at Shanghai Exhibition Center today in celebration of the 200-day countdown to next year's event.
The popular exhibition was a hit during its debut at Beijing's Capital Museum, drawing 96,821 visitors from July 5 to July 27.
Covering 1,200 square meters, the most detailed Expo exhibition uses more than 200 pictures and 18 videos to illustrate the World Expo from its origin and its evolution. It also features models of 66 pavilions and 12 multimedia display items. Nearly 100 models of previous fairs are also on display.
A film clip "City Rhapsody: A Preview of the Site of Expo Shanghai" offers visitors a sneak preview of the site. The story behind China Pavilion is unfolded through an innovative multimedia work called "Kaleidoscope."
Visitors will discover first-hand and detailed information about pavilion design and construction as well as the event's history via electronic books and videos.
The free exhibition will run through October 26 from 9am to 5pm (entry stops from 4pm). Group visitors can book on 63353338, 63353336 or 63353335.
By yesterday, nearly 16,000 visitors in groups had already made reservations, including university students, public servants as well as visitors from Japan and Republic of Korea.
Meanwhile, the Expo Exhibition Center on Huaihai Road M. will close temporarily from October 13 to 26 for interior decoration and upgrade.
