Postgraduate still awaits further treatment on eye burn injury after lab blast: school authority
DOCTORS are still discussing further treatment plans to help the postgraduate who suffered eye and face injuries in a blast at a lab of Donghua University, the school authority said today.
The two injured postgraduates had 5 percent of their faces burned by chemical reactions that included potassium permanganate and their eyes were also injured, the school said. The third student escaped with minor injuries and was already back on campus for study, the school said.
The school said one of the student’s eye injury was not serious but the other had to undergo a surgery and is also awaiting further treatments.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
The incident happened around 10:30am on Wednesday at a lab of College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology on the university’s Songjiang District campus.
