Preventing outbreaks of diseases
Prevention and control of diseases, especially dengue fever, is a key target for the upcoming China International Import Expo, the Shanghai Health Commission said.
A total of 90 emergency teams with 270 professionals have been established for vector control around the city.
There have been outbreaks of dengue fever in some Southeast Asian countries and some regions in China this year and there will be many expo participants and visitors coming from such regions.
The authority has completed four inspections inside the National Convention and Exhibition Center, the CIIE venue, and two inspections outside the center. Professionals have conducted two thorough checks inside the center and research on some 100 hotels serving CIIE guests, designated hospitals, airports and railway stations.
The commission said it will organize a mosquito-control campaign late this month.
An emergency network will start working in early November and organize daily inspections to detect and solve problems. The district- and city-level vector-control teams will stand by for emergency treatment.
