Prolific cheetah mom gives birth to 12 cubs within 1 year

A cheetah in the Shanghai Wild Animal Park has given birth to quintuplets after delivering septuplets in April.
Park officials said today that the five cheetah cubs were born in mid-December. Their mother Lao Da recovered quickly after giving birth to septuplets and rejoined other cheetahs. She was found pregnant again in August.
The new cubs are now living in a special home in the park and are nursed by zoo keepers. The room is air-conditioned with central heating to protect these African tropical animals from chilly weather, park officials said.
They said it is a park record that a cheetah has given birth to 12 cubs within one year.
