Pudong picks its 1st elite pros
THE Pudong New Area government yesterday selected 11 of the 100 top professionals it plans to attract in emerging industries over the next five to 10 years by offering subsidies of 1 million yuan (US$ 158,500) to each talent.
Most of them are PhD holders who graduated from Yale, Stanford and other world-class universities.
They have rich working experience in top enterprises such as Goldman Sachs, General Motors and Boeing. They grasp advanced technologies or hold patents.
They come from the financial, shipping, biomedical, new energy, aviation and other industries considered important to the city's future development.
Xu Ke, one of the 11, used to work in the financial industry in the United States. He spent his spare time studying art and the latest animation technology in Hollywood. He returned to China to start up a 3D animation career after he found that 95 percent of domestic animation work is 2D.
He has made a 3D animation film called "Frog Soldier" and invited locals to watch the movie "made in Pudong, produced in Pudong and created in Pudong."
