Pudong’s special services aid arrivals
The Pudong airport has begun offering luggage delivery and medical consultation along with other new services for passengers arriving from overseas.
All inbound passengers from overseas are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine for medical observation at designated sites as part of the city’s COVID-19 prevention measures.
They are also required to undergo nucleic acid tests before being sent into quarantine, or to a medical facility if their results are positive.
The Shanghai Airport Authority has launched a number of other services along with these measures at the airport.
A luggage delivery service, for instance, is available now for passengers of China Eastern and Spring airlines who might be sent to designated locations for nucleic acid tests.
These passengers can scan a QR code to enter their luggage information, and airport staff will contact and deliver the baggage to the required address.
The airport authority also opened an Emergency Point of Care between T1 and T2, where passengers can request physical examination or medical consultation.
Inside the terminals, multilingual signs have been added. Passengers can also scan a QR code displayed around the terminals to register their personal information beforehand.
Hot water, hand sterilizer, alcohol wipes and phone chargers have been prepared at the pick-up spots of the city’s 16 districts as well as neighboring Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces at the terminals.
Free snacks are on offer in case travelers have a long wait after landing.
About 6,000 passengers are expected to arrive in Shanghai per week from abroad, compared with 70,000 normally after China’s civil aviation regulator cut international flights as part of efforts to stem the inflow of COVID-19 cases.
