Puxi lacks facilities
AS the number of visitors to the Puxi side has increased, a number of new problems have emerged.
Visitors have complained about poorly equipped toilets, a lack of places to get a drink and not enough signs.
Some loos don't have hooks on the doors and some visitors said their belongings have fallen into the toilet.
"I've already lost several items when using the toilets in Puxi because there's no hook for me to hang my bag and personal stuff," a visitor who has been to the Expo several times told Shanghai Daily. The toilets she referred to are near the Japanese Industry Pavilion.
Shanghai Daily has found that the toilets near the Pavilion of Future also have no hooks. The poor lighting inside often forces visitors to feel around for the lavatory paper and the flush lever.
Another big beef is the inadequate and inconveniently located drinking spots, a problem that may fester as temperatures rise with summer on the horizon.
There is no place to buy a drink at the Urban Best Practices Area. It's at least a 15-minute walk out of the area to find a spot to get a drink.
Some drinking places are along the Huangpu River, but these are not visible from the pavilions.
Song Laixin, an official with the Expo bureau, said they haven't yet received any complaints about these issues but that they would look into it.
Visitors to the Puxi side also complained that it's easy to get lost as there are not enough signs.
