Illegal hunting of wildlife in the suburban district is banned and people will face fines or criminal sanctions in serious cases.
Protected wildlife includes species on the nation’s and city’s protected list, as well as those with important ecological, scientific and social value, according to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.
Hunting of wildlife for the purpose of eating is strictly forbidden in the district.
The tip-off hotline is 12345, the city’s public service hotline, the bureau announced.
The other four wildlife sanctuaries in Shanghai are the Nanhui Dongtan area in the Pudong New Area and Fengxian, Chongming and Jinshan districts.
