Qingpu police net 49 gamblers on boat

QINGPU District police have caught 49 gamblers on a boat on Dianshan Lake and seized more than 60,000 yuan (US$8,790).

Twenty-three of the caught were detained, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

Police said they made the raid on March 3 after being tipped off by local people.

Gamblers moved the casino to the boat to evade police, but were caught by surprise when police boarded. The boat is equipped with a small food store as it seldom docks.
