Raid nets foreigners overcrowding apartments
SEVEN Southeast Asian women were found to be illegally sharing a two-bedroom apartment in a joint raid yesterday by the city's entry-exit authority and police.
The apartment was crammed with five double bunks, breaking city rules of a minimum 5 square meters for each apartment dweller, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The crackdown was launched in Minhang and Changning districts, and nearly 30 foreigners with low-end jobs were caught breaking China's visa laws.
The newspaper said some suspects were detained while others were fined.
