Rat empties subway car in seconds

A rat triggered a stampede in a crowded subway car on Metro Line 1 this morning during the rush hour and some passengers tweeted on Weibo that the carriage was "emptied almost in seconds" as people screamed and scrambled.
The incident, occurring near the Changshu Road Station downtown, also drew concerns over subway safety as rats can damage electric wires.
Shanghai Metro operator responded immediately that it is their routine task to kill rats and other pests on trains, stations and tunnels. No rat-related damages have been reported so far.
