Remainder of buildings under inquiry
PROBLEMS remaining after the Minhang building collapse in the city on June 27 were still being resolved, the municipal government said yesterday.
The city's construction authorities are in charge of safety examinations of the remaining 10 buildings at the Lotus Riverside project in Minhang District's Meilong Town.
The government said yesterday it required the developer, Meidu Real Estate Co Ltd, to release details of compensation plans for owners. A "credible company' must also take over the complex.
Tony Tao, a buyer from one of the other 10 buildings, said he was "very anxious" while waiting for a new compensation offer.
Huang Rong, director of the Shanghai Urban and Rural Construction and Transport Commission, said yesterday that a safety-evaluation investigation on the remaining 10 buildings was still underway and the procedure may take "some time."
