Robbery gang suspects caught

A GANG of 20 suspects said to have robbed people who went with girls offering them a massage are now in custody, Huangpu District police said yesterday.
The girls usually accosted middle-aged men on Xinzha Road, Xinchang Road and Xinqiao Road, police said, leading them to rented rooms nearby. Men outside the rooms would sneak in and rob the victims, police said.
Police began to keep an eye on certain apartments after reports that property and cash had gone missing.
On April 7, police found a rented house on Xinqiao Road empty in daytime but busy with people going in and out during the evening.
Investigators traced suspects leaving the place for another apartment on Qingyun Road and a hotel on Zhongshan Road N.
A total of 20 suspects were caught on May 6.
The gang admitted to similar crimes in the districts of Huangpu, Jing'an and Luwan, according to police.
