Ruijin drill over disease outbreak
A DRILL at Ruijin Hospital yesterday showed how it would deal with emergencies during a major public health scare.
A suspected outbreak of a mass intestinal infectious disease was simulated in the drill. Three people with diarrhea visited the hospital and were diagnosed with the disease. Then another 37 people from the same company were reported to have similar symptoms.
The hospital showed its 5G-based intelligent medical system, which can realize real-time information transfer between ambulances, hospitals and headquarters for quick diagnosis and medical response. It is a national project led by Ruijin to improve the rescue capabilities in major cities.
A long-distance ultrasound system on ambulances can send real-time images to headquarters, which immediately puts medical staff and resources on standby.
In the drill, robots were used for disinfection to reduce medical staff鈥檚 exposure and enhance efficiency. Robots were also responsible for patient checking and sample transportation.
