Russian swans fly into Shanghai
RUSSIAN ballet dancers will stage an updated version of Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky 's classic "Swan Lake" during the National Day holiday at Shanghai Grand Theatre.
Two performances will be given on October 2 and 3, today's Xinmin Evening News reported.
The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre has invested 500,000 euros (US$716,200) to update the staging for the show, according to leading ballerina Irina Kolesnikova who is in Shanghai.
The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre was founded in 1994, made up mostly of graduates from the famous Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg.
Besides Kolesnikova, its principal dancers include Anna Podlesnaya, Dmitri Akulinin, Andrei Stelmakhov, Olga Ovchinnikova and Oleg Harutkin.
