Rustic art of sky, earth and source

A SERIES of 27 paintings by Chinese abstract artist Qu Qianmei will be displayed in Shanghai this month.

“Tian Di Yuan” (sky, earth and source) will run from September 27 to November 17 at the Art Center in the Jing’an Sculpture Park.

Qu’s landscape-inspired paintings deliver a touch of rustic charm and radiate a strong inner power. As an artist with international vision and avant-garde spirit, she deserves to have a solo exhibition in the park, where the city’s biennial sculpture festival is held, said curator Huang Caidi.

Ticket prices start at 18 yuan (US$2.54) and are available online.

Qu, 63, has been living in Paris since 1985. Over recent years, she has opened solo exhibitions in China and France.
