'Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace' starts shooting

FOLLOWING the success of "Empress in the Palace," another online romance novel of Wu Xuelan will be adapted into an epic TV series.
The series titled "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace" has recently started shooting.
Starring mainland actress Zhou Xun and Taiwan actor Wallace Huo, the series tells a romantic and tragic love story which transcends decades of years between emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty and his empress Ruyi.
Director Wang Jun said that around 5,000 actors were competing for the roles in the epic drama which has lavish spectacular scenes and an insight into the royal life of ancient China.
The series is expected to air on Dragon TV next year.
Previously both "Empress in the Palace" and the historical epic series "The Legend of Miyue" were among the highest-rating shows on the channel.
"Empress in the Palace" was also condensed into a short TV series for American audiences.
