Security guards detained for killing woman, stealing car

TWO security guards who allegedly killed a woman and stole her car and belongings at a Shanghai residential complex have been detained.

The fatal robbery took place in the underground garage of a newly built residential complex in Pudong New Area where the two suspects, surnamed Li and Chen, worked.

The exact date of the murder is unknown, but the victim's body was discovered by cleaners in the garage yesterday morning.

Police today said that the suspects had allegedly stabbed the woman to death in the garage, robbed her belongings and fled from the scene with her car.

The suspects later abandoned the car in Jiaxing, neighboring Zhejiang Province, but were tracked down and caught last night in Shengjia Village in Zhejiang.

Being newly built, the complex houses only a few residents at present.
