Senegal raises the standard

SENEGAL celebrates its National Pavilion Day today with dazzling folk dance and singing performances.

The pavilion in Zone C explores the theme "Infrastructure Construction, Catalyst of Sustainable and Harmonious Development," showing its efforts to renovate cities, build infrastructure, protect the environment and raise living standards.

At the entrance stand a statue of a majestic lion and a gigantic baobab tree, reminders of African tradition and natural resources in the Atlantic coastal nation.

The layout of the pavilion is inspired by a contour map of Senegal and the red, green and yellow colors of the national flag. Multimedia and real objects are the major exhibition forms.

The exhibition features the newest infrastructure of world-class status, management of water, forests and sanitation, the commercial cluster of tourism, handicrafts and cultural industries. Engineering projects under way include railways, roads, highways, ports, airports, dams and bridges.
