Seven hurt in bus crash

A BUS driver hurt himself and seven passengers when he crashed into the back of a dump truck this morning in Shanghai's Xuhui District.

All of the injured were in a stable condition this afternoon. Four will stay in hospital for treatment of broken bones and concussion.

The bus company admitted speed was to blame for the accident and promised to pay the victims' medical fees.

The driver was being questioned by police after the accident at the intersection of Longwu and Baise Roads about 11am.

Witnesses complained that the bus was driving too fast and suspected the driver ran a red light.

Meanwhile, a driver was killed in another accident this morning when two container trucks crashed on the Outer Ring Road in Baoshan District.

Witnesses said the victim, not identified, was stuck in the cab and died after the ambulance came.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation by police.
