SHANGHAI police said they have busted a lottery fraud gang that preyed on innocent people in suburban districts.
Police arrested seven suspects and seized more than 200,000 yuan of illegal money.
The gang held lottery draws on the sidewalks of suburban towns from March until their arrest recently. They played tricks so that no one would win the lottery, police said.
If a victim found out their tricks, the gang would scatter and flee the scene, the officers said.
