Shanghai blackout claims denied
SHANGHAI power utility has scoffed at claims of a widespread blackout in the city, insisting that no such massive power cuts are imminent.
State Power Shanghai Company said that a social media post about a blackout in the city from September 27 to October 3 was a planned power outage and has nothing to do with blackouts.
A planned outage is routine work with the main purpose of carrying out maintenance of equipment, according to an explanation posted by the company’s Weibo account. The city’s power supply is stable and reliable, and should be able to meet the demands of residents and enterprises, it said.
