Shanghai gets 4 new parks

FOR those staying in the city for the National Day holiday, four unique parks will open by Thursday.

Shanghai's largest forest park, in Fengxian County, has been opened yesterday. The 10.65 square kilometer national forest park is embraced by water and covered by 4 million trees.

Part of the city's new urban ecological park, Gucun Park, will open Thursday. Only a small part of the park, which will eventually cover 4.3 square kilometers, will be opened for a trial run.

Also two old parks will reopen after refurbishment. The 400-year-old Guyi Yuan Park in Jiading District will re-open on Thursday. The park has been extended in a Ming Dynasty bamboo style.

Huaihai Park, a resting place in busy downtown Shanghai, will re-open before the National Day holiday.
