Shanghai man caught for slaying mistress

A local man who killed his mistress because she kept urging him to divorce was arrested yesterday.

"She urged me to divorce and remarry with her but I couldn't. She also asked to move into my newly decorated apartment, which annoyed me much," said Wang Feisheng, who was charged with murder by Minhang District prosecutors. "Since I couldn't get rid of her, I decided to kill her."

Wang, 38, got to know the 25-year-old woman, identified as Ju, in a barber's shop two years ago. Ju, whose husband was jailed, soon became Wang's mistress.

"A local man driving a black Buick always came here to visit Ju," the woman's landlord told prosecutors.

On the night of October 26, Wang took Ju to a hotel in his car. After having sex, Ju asked about the divorce again, which sent Wang into a rage.

Wang suddenly strangled her neck and choked her to death. He then put her body into his car and drove to the side of a river. He stuffed the body and some big stones into a plastic bag and threw the bag into the river, prosecutors said.

Two days later, a retired man surnamed Tao was fishing in the river and his fishing net caught something heavy. He then saw a human arm jutting out of the water and called the police immediately.

Police posted the victim's picture and soon got clues from her acquaintances. By checking the surveillance video tape which showed Wang's car, police caught him easily.
