Shanghai man wins 15m yuan in Sports Lottery
A Shanghai lottery ticket buyer hit a jackpot of 15 million yuan (US$2.3 million), the Shanghai Sports Lottery Center said yesterday.
The center said the man bought three tickets at 24 yuan each from a lottery sales outlet in Changning District and all the tickets had a winning number.
The biggest China Sports Lottery prize was claimed by a man in Chongqing, a municipality in southwest China last year. He won 176 million yuan.
A Shanghai man living in Yangpu District won 259 million yuan in the China Welfare Lottery on August 10, 2010, making him the second biggest winner in the country's lottery history.
The biggest prize, 560 million yuan, went to a buyer in east China's Zhejiang Province. The man bought the winning ticket at a cost of only 220 yuan last year.
