Shanghai ranks 9th in Govt Service Index
Shanghai ranks ninth among Chinese cities in government services, according to the 2011 Government Service Index released today.
Xiamen and Qingdao, port cities in Fujian and Shandong provinces, and Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, won the top three places.
However, traditional first-tier cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Guangzhou are absent from the top ten.
Researchers who made the index say a city's GDP or economic development is not directly linked with people's satisfaction with the services of their local government.
Researchers from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Shanghai Jiao Tong University collaborated to make the index based on a survey of 25,100 people and 3,200 enterprises in 32 Chinese cities.
