Shanghai student killed in NYC drunk driving accident
A STUDENT from Shanghai was killed and her boyfriend was in intensive care early on Saturday in New York City after an intoxicated police officer ran them over.
Feng Huang, 26, died at the scene after she was hit by a car driven by police officer Martin Abreu, 25, of Jersey City. She was knocked 10 meters due to the force of impact.
She was walking across West Street and Albany Street in the Financial District with her hedge-fund analyst boyfriend Dennis Loffredo after finishing a dancing lesson.
Feng graduated from New York University's Law School in 2007 and was scheduled to start a new job yesterday.
Abreu, who was off duty at the time of the accident, faces charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.
