Shanghai travelers sickened by food poisoning

TEN Shanghai tourists are suffering food poisoning in Hailuogou, a popular scenery area in Sichuan Province. They are free of life risk, fortunately.

The tourists, along with other 33 people, had symptom of vomit, dizzy and heart pounding after having breakfast yesterday morning at the Mingzhu Huayuan Hotel in Luding County near Hailuogou. They were sent to hospital immediately, but a 47-year-old female tourist from Guangdong Province died later.

The initial investigation into the case showed that the food poisoning may be caused by nitrite.

The Sichuan CYTS Tours, the organizer of the tour group that Shanghai tourists joined, said that their condition was stable.

"They can leave the hospital with doctors' permission," said an official with the company, who only defined himself as Jiang. "The compensation will be discussed later."

The tourists fell down on the second day of their seven-day trip to Hailougou and Siguniang Mountain.

They signed up for the group in Chengdu, Sichuan capital city.
