Sierra Leone goes for growth

THE Sierra Leone Pavilion celebrates its National Pavilion Day today.

It is inside the Africa Joint Pavilion in Zone C, near Houtan Square and Gate 8, and its theme is "Growth and More Urban Growth."

The pavilion, predominantly orange and earth-colored, has a strong West African ambience with seaside scenery, thatched huts, handmade carpets and stone crafts.

It depicts the living environment in three sections - "Scenic Beauty," "City Life" and "Urban Development."

Pictures of natural geography, resorts and mineral resources are displayed in the first section, which also tells the history of the country.

The second part features folk culture, arts and crafts and music. Visitors get a sense of the traditional rustic lifestyle, along with the country's famous pop music.

The third area showcases the nation's natural port and capital city, especially its urban development in recent years.

The Sierra Leone National Dance Troupe will give an exciting dance performance at the Expo Center today.

The show will present the hottest hit dances in Africa, as well as original Sierra Leone folk dances, a mask show and typical African drum performance.
