Sneak preview of Expo show
MORE than 6,000 local residents yesterday got a sneak preview of an exhibition about the World Expo 2010.
This was a trial run for the retrospective that will officially open on Sunday in the former Urban Footprint Pavilion in Puxi.
More than 14,000 exhibits have been collected from more than 200 Expo pavilions for the exhibition.
The test went smoothly, with no rushing or congestion in the 20,000-square-meter exhibition area, said Yu Li, chief designer and deputy operations commander.
The exhibition, which will run until the end of the year, is expected to attract 10,000 visitors a day - twice that number on peak days, according to Liu Xiuhua, director of the Expo Museum, which is in charge of the exhibition.
Visitors for yesterday's preview were picked at random.
Queues had formed at security checkpoints by 8:45am, but these moved quickly once the doors opened at 9am.
Another 10,000 people will be invited today and tomorrow in further dry runs.
Most of yesterday's visitors visited the Expo last year.
Li Tianyi, a local white-collar who visited the Expo twice said the exhibition rekindled memories of last year. "I am even trying to spot myself in the movies and pictures on display," he said.
Standard tickets cost 30 yuan (US$4.69).
