Son linked to death of his mother

THE man who killed his mother two weeks ago and set fire to their home to burn the body has been arrested, Xuhui District prosecutors said yesterday.
According to prosecutors, Lin, 26, never found a job after graduating from college in 2007 and relied on his parents for money.
On October 12, Lin asked his mother, surnamed Zhao, for 30,000 yuan (US$4,500). After she refused, they argued and Lin threatened to run away, prosecutors said.
As the conflict intensified, Lin started stabbing his mother with a knife, leaving dozens of cuts on her neck, face and chest, prosecutors said. Zhao, 56, died from excessive blood loss.
Lin then set their apartment at the Changqiao No. 5 Neighborhood, Xuhui, on fire in a bid to destroy his mother's body and cover the crime, prosecutors said.
His father wasn't home at the time.
Lin surrendered to police the next morning.
