AUSTRIA Pavilion Day events and performances today will highlight the spirit of the pavilion theme "Feel the Harmony."
The 2,000-square-meter space in Zone C is next to the Romania Pavilion.
Performances include a string quartet, modern music, table tennis, fashion and other entertainment from Central Europe. The pavilion turns into a nightclub with Viennese DJs and VJs from 6pm.
Austria's Expo Commissioner General Hannes Androsch and Viennese Vice Mayor Renate Brauner will talk about environmental protection.
The official ceremony includes a performance by the Seifert Quartet, comprised of members of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
The quartet will accompany a modern dance by Shanghai's Jin Xing Dance Theater at 1:15pm and 3:30pm at the Austria Pavilion.
Austria's former table tennis world champion Werner Schlager and local Shanghai football star Sun Xiang will play a table tennis match in front of the Austria Pavilion at 11:50am.
The pavilion's facade is made of red and white porcelain, a symbol of China-Austria trade and friendship demonstrated inside the pavilion.
