Souvenir bookmarks

CHINA Pavilion will begin giving out 10,000 bookmarks, which also double up as thermometers, as souvenirs to visitors from today.

A limited number of bookmarks will be handed out every day.

Visitors can ask volunteers and pavilion workers whether they can still get the souvenir when entering the pavilion.

The bookmarks were made by the National Development and Reform Commission of China, the country's top planning body.

The commission requires Expo pavilions to keep air-conditioners at a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius or higher to save energy.

The NDRC invited visitors to supervise the temperature inside pavilions by using the bookmark thermometers.

The commission yesterday presented 10,000 bookmarks each to the China Pavilion and the MeteoWorld Pavilion in Zone B.
