THE 2010 Shanghai World Expo organizer is offering a top prize of US$20,000 in a design competition for Expo-themed souvenirs.
The entries can include artwork, teapots, sculptures and jewelry. They can be made in paper, wood, cloth, red porcelain, silk, metal and stone.
The entries must involve the Shanghai World Expo emblem, logos, the mascot Haibao or the "Better City, Better Life" Expo theme.
The global competition will have professional and amateur levels.
A top award will be selected with two first prizes, three second prizes, 10 third prizes and 50 prizes. The awards will total US$80,000.
All the winning entries will be manufactured and sold to the public before and during the Expo.
Participants can send models or design drawings to Room M22, No. 2299 Yan'an Road W. on the sixth floor of the ShanghaiMart. The hotline is 6236-5109. The deadline is 6pm on February 28.
The Shanghai World Expo so far has more than 4,000 official souvenirs.
Meanwhile, the Expo organizer said the Expo Online Website - which will allow users to enjoy the 2010 event through the Internet - will be launched next Thursday.
People will be able to view pictures and descriptions of more than 200 pavilions at the Expo and many of the exhibits inside.
After downloading software, people will be able to make a virtual three-dimensional visit across the Expo site.
Expo Online, an innovation at the Expo, will be launched at the seventh World Expo International Forum in Beijing next Thursday.
More than 210 participants have agreed to put their displays online.
