Souvenir medals launched

Souvenir medals commemorating renowned Chinese translator Fu Lei and his wife, Zhu Meifu, have been launched in Fu鈥檚 childhood home of Zhoupu in Pudong.
The medals, in four elements including silver and bronze, show the pair鈥檚 heads close together, a pose based on a sculpture by artist Sheng Yang.
Lu Dongsheng, Party chief of Zhoupu, said Zhu was also responsible for Fu鈥檚 success. She was not only his wife, but his lifelong assistant who sorted and copied all of his work.
Sheng said he hoped to reflect Fu鈥檚 good character and the couple鈥檚 closeness. The work had been highly regarded by Fu鈥檚 children and was used on the cover of 鈥淔u Lei鈥檚 Family Letters,鈥 a book of Fu鈥檚 letters to family and friends.
