Spring holiday rush begins, real-name policy disappoints few
BRAVING early drizzle, more than 200,000 passengers embarked on a journey home from the Shanghai railway stations today to mark the beginning of the 40-day spring rush for the upcoming Spring Festival.
Railway authorities said some of them were turned down at the real-name ticket checkpoints at stations despite continued broadcast of the new real-named policy. In the morning, more than 20 passengers found that either their tickets did not match with their identifications or forgot to carry the ID cards. There was no foreigner among them.
But few ticket scalpers were still seen at the station. Local railway stations will handle more than 7 million passengers during this rush period.
