Spring-like weather over
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said the mild weather of late will end this weekend as a cold front makes its way into Shanghai.
Yesterday, a strong cold front began sweeping the country as central and eastern China were hit with heavy rain and snow as well as strong winds and plummeting temperatures.
Beginning Sunday, local temperatures are expected to drop to 1 degree Celsius in the city and as low as negative 3 degrees in the suburbs. There’s also a chance to see sleet and light snow.
Shanghai will wake up to fog Friday morning with visibility in parts of the city less than 200 meters, and heavy fog will hit Saturday morning.
Sunday will see early rain and overcast skies throughout the day.
Weather conditions will improve by Wednesday with a high of 10 and low of 2. Thursday the high will be 14 and the low 5. By next Saturday temperatures will rise to 17.
The bureau warns that fog, rain and snow weather may affect the transport of supplies to battle the coronavirus.
