Stabbing at university
YANGPU District police are hunting for a young man who allegedly stabbed one man and slashed another at Fudan University yesterday afternoon, police said.
The 18-year-old victim, surnamed Su, was stabbed in the stomach three times. He was sent to Changhai Hospital to undergo surgery and was in stable condition last night, the hospital said.
Su was walking with his girlfriend and four friends on Fudan's Handan Road campus at 1:15pm when they met the girl's ex-boyfriend.
An argument started and the ex-boyfriend stabbed Su with a fruit knife, said a witness surnamed Jiang, who sustained cuts on his arms when he tried to stop the fight.
"I stepped forward to protect my friend because the man with the knife seemed very aggressive," Jiang said.
Jiang was sent to hospital with Su after they were picked up by a police car.
None of those involved in the incident were Fudan University students, police said.
