Stage actor Wen starring in 'Rain Man' detained for driving without a license

Stage actor Wen Xiaowei was placed in criminal detention yesterday after he was caught driving without a license and refusing to cooperate with a police officer.
Police officer Li Wenhao stopped the actor on Tuesday when he changed lanes on a solid line. Wen refused to produce his license when asked and drove away, knocking Li to the ground.
Li sustained bruised knees in the incident.
Li jumped on his motorcycle and pursued Wen, stopping him close to the Zhongshan West and Anshun roads intersection. However, Wen jumped out of his car and ran away with only his backpack. He was eventually caught with help from passers-by.
Wen is currently starring in the play “Rain Man,” which is based on an American film of the same name and showing at Shanghai Drama Art Center. Actor Xu Shengnan will replace Wen in the play.
