Store fire kills 3 family members early this morning

THREE people were killed in a fire that broke out early this morning in a store on Jingtai Road, Putuo District.

The fire was spotted around 2:20am in an auto parts store at 38 Jingtai Road and the flame leaped up, fueled by combustible materials in the store.

The store owner, who was not identified, rushed out of the building and narrowly escaped the death. However, his mother, wife and son were trapped in the building and died before the rescue team arrived.

Firefighters quickly put out the blaze and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, police said.
