Suicide suspected in death

A YOUNG woman died yesterday morning in Putuo District and police said they believe it was suicide.
She had fresh knife wounds on her body and was holding a knife in one hand when she was found lying unconscious outside a convenience store on Yejiazhai Road.
Witnesses said the 24-year-old woman, surnamed Zhang, was wearing a backless dress and low-cut jeans when she stumbled out of a hotel on Changshou Road about 8am. She struggled for hundreds of meters before collapsing outside the convenience store.
"She was unconscious," said a security guard, surnamed Wei, who called the police and ambulance at 8:04am.
Zhang was pronounced dead in a hospital, police said.
Officers said the woman from Jilin Province lived on Changshou Road and that they were still investigating.
