Swiss use water to tell the story

PEOPLE can pay virtual visits to Basel, Geneva and Zurich via a water curtain movie at a joint pavilion of the three Swiss cities at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

The cities yesterday unveiled their exhibition plan for the Expo which will share experiences on water remediation as their urban best practices showcase at the 2010 event.

The exhibition theme will be "Better Water -- Best Urban Life."

The eight-minute film projected on a 4-meter-tall 360-degree water curtain will feature the landscape and water remediation practices of the three cities.

The film will also display the cities' sustainable water treatment and management efforts.

The 720-square-meter pavilion will be a white cylinder structure sitting on a water pool.

Switzerland is also building a 4,000-square-meter national pavilion at the Expo.

Visitors can expect to experience the busy urban life of Switzerland's cities on the first floor and enjoy the tranquil space of the nation's mountains on the roof.

The country's president is to visit the Expo on August 12.
