System upgrade paralyzes city's lottery sales network
TICKET sales in the welfare lottery were interrupted yesterday at all 2,400 sales points across Shanghai, as a system upgrade paralyzed the city's sales network.
But people can still buy tickets via telephone or mobile phone message, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The citywide glitch started about noon, a spokesperson with Shanghai Welfare Lottery Center told the newspaper.
By 6:30pm, 1,800 of the kiosks had resumed sales. The spokesperson blamed a software system upgrade for the network paralysis.
