Talent show aspirant practices slingshot at windows
A high school student received warning from police after he damaged several windows of a kindergarten near his home using a slingshot as he practiced marksmanship for the China's Got Talent show.
The 17-year-old surnamed Xu shot nine metal bullets at the windows of the Wuyi Road Kindergarten in Changning District. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Xu admitted his wrongdoing and the police would not give him other punishment because he is still underage, local police said today.
A teacher surnamed Zhang first noticed cracks in a window glass on December 28. "It was around 7am. I thought they were caused by a toy gun fired from the street by a kid," Zhang said.
The kindergarten found it a serious case after another employee surnamed Zhu spotted nine bullet holes in three more windows on January 4 and they called the police immediately.
After examining the site and the bullets, the police ruled out the shooting from a stimulation gun and focused their search on Xu who live in an apartment building opposite the kindergarten.
"He is obsessed with these things," said Xu's mother surnamed Li. "He used to love yoyo after seeing others play it on television. He also fell in love with magic for some time. Not long ago we watched China's Got Talent show and he picked up a slingshot after seeing others play with it in the show."
