Telecom scam
FOUR suspects have been detained by Shanghai police for an alleged telecom scam, in which they are said to have pretended to be staff from popular TV program "Feichang 6+1." The gang swindled victims out of postage and insurance fees to take part in non-existent lotteries, police said.
They started the scam in 2006 and committed 122 stings involving more than 700,000 yuan (US$105,023). The four were detained in Hainan Province.
